With its galleries, boutiques and stringent (an understatement) design standards, Cannon Beach is more like Carmel North than the kitschy beach towns one thinks of along the coast.
Now Rockaway Beach, well there's something else: the Sea Haven Motel, Trash & Treasures, Flamingo Jim's, the Salt Air Plaza and Beach-Side Mini Mart. For the most part the architecture is old (maybe Depression Era to WWII?) and a campy, summer carnival atmosphere prevails even over the new zillion dollar beach front condos. And who are the people who play basketball in the wayside parking lot?
So grab Moon-Doggy, crank up the Beach Boys, and cruise over to Ruth's for some "mini-golf..."
