Tulips 1

Saturday, April 14, 07

Tulips (white tulips especially) are my favorite flowers. Their colors are bright, but never garish. Their shapes range from a simple cup to a bundle of delicate feathered edges. They are a common flower, but short-lived and a bit fragile. Looking closely, you'll see subtle lines and color changes on each petal.  And there is a gawkiness to  the large heads balancing on thin stems; yet nothing says elegance like those same heads and stems artfully draped over the edge of a low vase.

Today's tulips are from midtown, most in front of the SurfSand Resort. After the rain and wind of the past few days they look hesitant about opening, but they'll come around.  A little sunshine makes everything feel better.
